Beg, Plead and Cajole if you must

If you want a larger raise and if you think you deserve one, then you should prepare to make an argument, sell your accomplishments and quantify your contributions. No one gets a raise because of wedding plans, births, new houses or old debts...
An employee should make this argument armed with the original job description and a list of actual tasks and responsibilities. If the employee’s own research indicates that the credit union is not paying competitively for that job, most credit union managers would welcome that news and re-evaluate the pay scale.
